Anthony Stark began looking for Ph.D. programs while pursuing his master’s degree at the University of Virginia. “I asked my advisor if she thought I had the chops for a Ph.D. program, and she printed out a list of the top ranked Ph.D. programs in public affairs and UNO ranked very highly on her list.
At UNO, Anthony found that the faculty was extremely supportive. He was able to take courses in the Black Studies program and explore different facets of his interests which allowed him to blend the two disciplines together and build on his Public Administration and Public Affairs degree. After presenting at a conference, he found people who were interested in this too, which led him to his dream job.
He attributes this experience at UNO with giving him a competitive edge as he moved into the next phase of life as faculty member at the University of Colorado-Denver.
