ERIC HAMILTON

Transfer student / Theta Chi Fraternity / Black Excellence Student Group

Eric Hamilton is a transfer student with a not-so-typical transfer background.

Starting his college career in Sioux City, Iowa, Eric decided the atmosphere there wasn’t for him before returning home to Omaha and joining the Navy. When he was medically discharged, Eric knew UNO was the perfect fit to provide him the support he needed while he worked towards a degree.

“I have been fortunate enough to have served my country and then come home and be able to utilize UNO’s Office of Military and Veteran Services,” Eric said. “In addition to that group, UNO has also provided me personal support with injury rehabilitation and mental health counseling.”

One of the best parts of UNO, Eric said, is the inclusive atmosphere. From the moment he stepped on campus, UNO felt like home and that encouraged him to become more involved. Since coming to UNO, not only has Hamilton been involved with the university’s nationally-recognized military support services, he’s also joined the UNO chapter of the Theta Chi fraternity as well as a group called Black Excellence.
