LIZBETH PEREZ

COLLEGE OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

Bachelor of Science in Economics, CBA Scholars Academy

Lizbeth Perez lived in Mexico until she was 14. College wasn’t really something instilled in her growing up, but by coming to UNO she has changed not only the trajectory of her life, but also her family’s.

“I’m a first-generation student. There wasn’t a whole lot of influence in my life about going beyond my education or doing more things with my life,” she says.

Pursuing a degree in business, Lizbeth gained the opportunity to be part of the College of Business Administration (CBA) Scholars Academy, a close-knit community of ambitious and high-achieving students who challenge themselves.

“Being in the scholars academy, I see a lot of students that are doing amazing things I never thought were possible,” she said. “Every time I see them doing more, it motivates me to push myself to do the

best I can.”

Coming to UNO has not only motivated Lizbeth, but also her entire family.

“My sisters are already in college, my brother is going to college. I’m seeing how opening one door can open more doors for my family and the community around me.”
