Marketing Major / Transfer Student
Angela Lopera, a first-generation college student, started her academic journey at Metropolitan Community College (MCC). From the beginning, she knew she wanted to attend UNO after earning an associate degree.
“Everyone that I met on campus was friendly and helpful,” she said. “I thought the campus was beautiful and large, but still felt like home.
Thanks to strong collaboration between MCC and UNO, the marketing major said transferring couldn’t have been easier.
“Everyone that helped me through the process was extremely helpful.
Angela has taken the skills she learned at MCC and is now applying them at UNO. She’s also taking full advantage of the amenities and community connections that drew her to campus, from tutoring in UNO’s Math-Science Learning Center to free ice-skating nights at Baxter Arena.
Angela said any students considering transferring should know the transition is easy.
“They made me feel welcomed, answered all my questions and even gave me information they thought someday I could need so that I could have a great experience on campus. I feel comfortable and happy knowing that I made the right choice.”
