Master of Science in Cybersecurity
Emily Mays earned her bachelor’s degree in business, but she quickly saw the importance of technology and decided to pursue her master’s degree in Cybersecurity at UNO.
The idea of going into an IT field, being successful, and hopefully encouraging more women to choose that career path was something that really excited Emily.
Emily believes that the real-world, hands-on experience she received from UNO is what set her up for success. “It’s not just theory based, which is one of the things I liked about the cybersecurity program,” she said. After graduation, Emily will begin working full time at Northrop Grumman Corporation, a global aerospace and defense technology company.
There’s a lot that we can bring to the table and a viewpoint that we can share that will continue to improve the industry as a whole.
“If you’re feeling like you’re at a point where your career has stopped progressing in the sense that you don’t feel like you’re being creative,” she said, “the best thing to do is to start trying something and see where that takes you. It’s just taking that first step and eventually before you know it you have another degree.”
